In Thailand Buddhist monks fight with police

Police officers and monks came to blows over access to the temple, six people suffered.

On the morning of 20 February, Buddhist monks staged a brawl with police at the gates of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, near Bangkok. As a result, suffered three monks, two police officers and one member who tried to break up a fight.

The monks demanded to let them inside the locked Church, then joined with the police in a fight. The active phase of the conflict with the shocks and aftershocks lasted about twenty minutes.

Law enforcement authorities produce in the Church the search for the founder and the head of the movement, Dhammakaya 72-year-old Phra Dhammajayo. A religious leader is suspected of financial fraud, his whereabouts is unknown. Sam Phra Dhammajayo repeatedly called the accusations politically motivated. He is an open opponent of the current government, which came to power in a coup in 2014.

The supporters of the movement, Dhammakaya that Phra Dhammajayo founded in 1972, gathered around the temple to protect their leader, gathered from across the country.
