The power of Pisa decided to build another tourist attraction is the Ferris wheel.
According to the Minister of culture of Tuscany Andrea Ferrante, the height of the wheel will be comparable to the height of the leaning tower (56 m) — the main attractions of the city.
It is assumed that the wheel set close to the architectural ensemble of the Santa Maria Assunta, which includes the leaning tower, in place of the existing Parking. During three summer months the city authorities are going to check the popularity of the new attraction.
It is reported that from the top of the wheel, visitors can see not only the leaning tower, but the Ligurian sea (the city is located 10 km from the coast).
Advocates of architecture from the group Italia Nostra has criticized the plans of city officials, assuring that the wheel display will not fit into the ensemble of the medieval city.
