In Moscow held a rally against the demolition of five-story building

In Moscow on Sakharov Avenue rally against the program of the city authorities for the renovation and demolition of five-story building.

The action left thousands of home owners and residents are dissatisfied with the demolition and renovation bill, which passed its first reading in the state Duma.

Duma Deputy Elena Shuvalov in the beginning of the rally called the program “deportation” of Muscovites, who are forced to leave their homes.

A bill introduced in the state Duma in early March, has been criticized for the violation of existing laws and the Russian Constitution. In particular, in its present form, the bill restricts the right of citizens to judicial protection and does not protect the rights of residents of homes that will be demolished.

In early may, there were lists of houses, whose residents must vote “for” or “against” the demolition. Voting will begin may 15 and according to its results the decision on the inclusion of the house in a renovation programme.

In lists in addition to the panel “Khrushchev” was a brick “Stalinka” and even the houses built before the revolution in Russia. While not included in the program of the old dorms. Just lists there were 4566 houses.

Over the past few weeks amid protests, Moscow authorities began to change in the renovation programme. On Friday the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin announced that a bill on the demolition of houses will be made a fundamental change. On Saturday the following bill was already submitted to the Moscow city Duma.

Moscow authorities promised to give the residents of the five-story building to challenge in court the decision on the demolition of their homes, although earlier secoproject denied doing it. In addition, the authorities promise to provide the possibility of refusal from participation in the program at any stage, the possibility of obtaining an equivalent dwelling or monetary compensation in case of residents of demolished houses are not satisfied with the proposed city hall.

However, activists opposed to the program, it is not reassuring. They are trying to overturn the bill and program. At the meeting, saying the organizers should not sound political slogans.
