In Kharkov will be the first in Ukraine social hotel

Ukraine’s first “Social hotel” for people who found themselves in difficult life situations, will open in Kharkov. Since the 14th of November in the two-storey building in Saltovka will be able to find temporary shelter to displaced people from Lugansk and Donetsk regions, as well as people, who lost their house in a fire, gas explosion or cave-ins. The hotel was created at the initiative of the Kharkiv city Council and with the support of the Federal German company GIZ.

For the first nine months of uninhabitable storage room on the street Valentine, 23-g, turned into a modern hotel. This had a major overhaul both outside and inside.

“Just renovated 36 rooms, insulated facade and roof, installed new Windows, doors, ramps, improved heating system, ventilation, and air conditioning. In addition, completely replaced electrical wiring, repaired the toilets and showers, a fully replaced the sewer,” says the press officer of the company GIZ Dmitry Semyanistyi.

The hotel the Germans were equipped with necessary furniture and appliances, spending for the project is 11.5 million UAH.

“Social hotel”, guests will be living in 23 residential single, double and family rooms. They are equipped with beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs and refrigerators. In addition, the hotel will operate a Laundry, four kitchens, administrative, common room and a room for storage of humanitarian aid. Also on the ground floor has three rooms designed for people with disabilities. “At this time, they will be able to take from 38 to 50 people. They can live in the rooms and a communal Laundry and dishes,” says Semyanistyi. In preparation for the opening, here done to landscape the surrounding area.

The HOTEL. The list of people who can stay in a “halfway house” for six months, and policies will be approved at the city Council. The exact amount how much it will cost the guest room, city hall has not called.

“This is a social hostel. The rates will determine at the next meeting of the Executive Committee,” — said the Director of the Department of labour and social policy of the city Council Larisa Bolgova.

Earlier in the mayor’s office said that in individual cases people can live here for free. The creators of “Social hotel” we hope that the project will help in the first place immigrants who have still not solved the housing question.

During your stay at the hotel, guests will be able to find a permanent roof over your head: advisors will direct them to authorities for solving housing issues.
