How fatty foods affect men’s health

Foods containing saturated fats, may trigger the development of prostate cancer.

Practice shows that representatives of a strong half of mankind is much more difficult to monitor their diet than women.

Slim figure men care less about the health care they are worse. However, perhaps these latest research can convince them if not give up, then greatly reduce the amount of saturated fats in your diet. Meat, fat, milk, and sweets can cause development of the most aggressive prostate cancer.

To such conclusion scientists from the University of North Carolina, recently published a shocking article in the journal “prostate Cancer and prostate disease” (Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases). According to them, it is a component of food, like saturated fats are found primarily in animal products seriously aggravate the course of prostate cancer.

It was found that if the diet of men a lot of saturated fats, it increases the level of cholesterol in the blood, which in turn is associated with progressive types of prostate cancer. To this conclusion came the study’s author, Emma allott of the University of North Carolina.

In the framework of the project for the study of prostate cancer in North Carolina-Louisiana, which examined the relationship of prostate cancer and fats in the diet, participated 1854 patients with newly diagnosed prostate cancer. Among them, 321 people (or 17%) was diagnosed with “very aggressive” cancer. Men were asked to answer questions about their dietary habits; what medication they take, what lifestyle are, how old they are and what they do. Scientists estimate the levels of saturated fats in the diet of each person and the number of mono – and polyunsaturated fats – good fats which reduce bad cholesterol in the blood. Last, we recall, are contained in vegetable oils and fish.

It was found that patients with more aggressive prostate cancer receive daily more calories and cholesterol. In addition, the share of calories they receive from fat, very high. Among men with more aggressive prostate cancer, the proportion of saturated fat in the total consumption of fat was higher and the polyunsaturated lower than in men with less aggressive cases.

Scientists came to the conclusion that the diet with the highest saturated fat content of 51% increases the risk of cancer is extremely aggressive compared to diets in which the percentage of saturated fat was minimal. In addition, among patients who did not take statins to reduce cholesterol, the risk of aggressive cancer increased by 71% in the diet with the highest content of saturated fat. For those who took statins, the risk grew by only 16 percent.
