Honda developed its first electric car to be sold in Europe. At the Frankfurt motor show, the audience was shown a prototype of the future car called the Urban EV. The production version of the car will be presented in 2019.
“EV Concept — this is not some vision of the distant future. The production version of this car will appear in Europe in 2019,” said Honda President Takahiro Hachigo.
The electric hatchback was a retro design and reminiscent of Jazz. Length of product is only 3895 mm. Between the headlamps the vehicle has a special display, which can display a welcome message to other drivers.
In the cabin of the electric vehicle installed digital dashboard. Instead of side mirrors are installed cameras that constantly broadcast on a special screen. The concept has received four seats, but the production version will be a five.
Also at the motor show in Frakfurt the company Honda will present a new technology called Power Manager. It is a fully integrated power transmission system. Technology is designed to enable electric vehicles in a smart grid. Development allows to collect and distribute a charge between the houses, offices and cars to balance the energy consumption. Pytania the new system should begin soon in the West of France.
“By 2025, we plan to equip the motors of two-thirds of cars sold in the region. And the implementation of our system Power Manager this will help us greatly,” explained senior Vice-President Honda Motor Europe, Philip Ross.
