Doctors found an unexpected useful property of spicy food

Hot pepper and other pungent spices are not only able to promote weight loss, but also reduce the craving for eating of salt that affects health of the heart and blood vessels.

The corresponding scientific article published in the journal Hypertension.

Jimin Chinese scholar Zhu and his colleagues observed the diet of about six hundred volunteers, who have agreed a time to eat very spicy food.

Scientists have found that eating spicy foods reduces the pressure in the blood vessels at 8 and 5 mm Hg. This was due to the fact that participants began to eat much less salt when they eat spicy food.

As the scientists explain, this is due to the fact that the centers salty and spicy taste in our brain is located nearby, and they partially overlap each other. Therefore, “the inclusion of the” center sharp flavor enhances the activity of cells responsible for the recognition of salty, making the food seem saltier than it really is.

At the same time, Zhu indicates that Chinese food is one of the sharpest in the world, and it is still unknown whether behave the same way people from Europe or from the United States. Therefore, the researchers plan to conduct additional studies.
