Talk of a possible return of Russia in the “Big eight” (G8) are not serious.
“With regard to the topic to move it back to the group that we hear from the other side. First, it really sounds from the other side, and secondly, some kind of speculation. Will take some decision, it will probably be somehow considered. Will not accept – why just talk about it, because behind the words there is no action,” she said.
The group of seven (G7, the “Big seven”) is the Union of economically developed countries, which includes USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, France and Japan. In the format of “seven”, the organization existed in years 1976-1997. After Russia’s accession to the Union has been called the Group of eight, or “Big eight” (G8). In March 2014, as a result of events in Ukraine and the ensuing crisis in relations between Russia and the West, the organization decided to return to the format of “seven”.
