Agramunt has lost all authority

Agramunt is no longer authorized to carry out official visits.

In the debating chamber of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe officially announced that the Bureau had expressed distrust of the President Pedro Agramunt. The statement, which is posted on the PACE website, read Vice-President Renee Hand.

“Bureau meeting today in Strasbourg refused to trust Pedro Agramunt as President of the Assembly. The Bureau also decided that Agramunt is not authorized to make an official visit may not participate in meetings or to make public statements on behalf of the Assembly as President,” – said in a statement.

The statement also notes that Agramunt decided not to participate in today’s meeting of the Bureau and has provided a letter of removal from office.

As a result, the Bureau considers necessary to carry out activities in accordance with existing procedure.

“The standards and principles of the parliamentary Assembly are more important than private interests of individuals,” the statement reads.

We will remind, at the end of March in Syria, a delegation of the PACE deputies and the state Duma of Russia headed by President of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Pedro Agramunt, despite the fact that Agramunt was not authorized by the Assembly or its bodies in the exercise of such a visit.

After that the PACE began formally to demand the resignation of Agramunt.
