The ex-President is accused of the death of the Heavenly hundred.
The Prosecutor General’s office after three and a half years after the bloody events on the Maidan, asked the court for permission to conduct trials in absentia proceedings against the ex-President Viktor Yanukovych.
This was reported by press Secretary of the Prosecutor General Larisa Sargan on Facebook.
This case is investigated by the office of special investigations of the Department of special investigations of the GPU. Yanukovych is suspected of the organization of abuse of power and official authority by law enforcement officers on the Maidan, which led to mass casualties among the protesters. Also he is accused of organization of murders on the Maidan on 19-20 February 2014 and the terrorist attack on February 20 on Instytutska street.
“The results of the investigation 26.09.2017 to the Pechersk district court of Kyiv filed a petition granting permission for the implementation of the special pre-trial investigation against the suspect Yanukovych V. F. in the Commission of the above crimes,” – said in a Facebook message garfish, however, is probably here a mistake is made and it is still on the motion for a special trial, not the pretrial investigation.
The trial of the petition is scheduled for 12:40 on 5 October.
