The ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said that he had not turned to Russia with a request to send troops to Ukraine.
“I did not ask to send troops to Ukraine. This is not a letter, and the statement in the first place. Second, there are laws”, – the statement says Yanukovych to world leaders, which is spread by the Russian media.
Also the former President added that he was unfaithful to his people.
“I didn’t betray my people, I was trying to protect the people, and to do so in the framework of its powers”, – added ex-the President.
“That was my goal. It can be emotional, but I was looking for ways to protect for people”, – concluded Yanukovych.
According to Yanukovych, his main goal was “to stop illegal armed groups, which began to destroy the people in the Donbass”.
We will remind, in January the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that the UN Secretariat has provided the Ukrainian side with a photocopy of the statement ex-President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovich on 1 March 2014 with a request to send Russian troops into the country. Yanukovych himself said that the letter was in the public domain on the website of the UN for almost three years.
