Xiaomi has filed a lawsuit against Ukrainian distributor

Distributor NIS is accused of violating intellectual property rights

One of the largest Chinese electronics manufacturer Xiaomi H. K. Ltd sued the Ukrainian distributor NIS and demanded to stop the violation of intellectual property rights.

This is stated in the decision of the Kyiv economic court on 25 July.

What does Xiaomi?

NIS owns the rights to the brand Xiaomi. But the brand Xiaomi, Mi issued on his co-owner and General Director Alexander Chirkov and more recently on some Concord trade Inc. (USA). The court decided to forward the petition Xiaomi economic court of Kyiv region, as it indicated that the violations were the custom of Boryspil. Xiaomi also tried to ensure that the court has adopted interim measures, which would have imposed a lien on the property and denied customs clearance of goods. But the court refused this, as Xiaomi forgot to attach to the application copies to the GFS and NIS.

NIS Xiaomi sells products through its online store Mi.ua and through a network of ten retail mono-brand stores. “In Ukraine, the official supplier of products to the Xiaomi ecosystem, producers are more than 80 successful start-UPS, is the company NIS”, – stated on the website Mi.ua. As reported earlier in the year by the professional edition Retailers.ua NIS plans to expand its monobrand retail chain stores Xiaomi to 30.

It is noteworthy that last year retail chain ALLO announced that the official Xiaomi distributor in Ukraine was the company of tsifrotekh member of the group Hello.

“The NIS also sells through its platform products Xiaomi. Part of the products they buy from the company of tsifrotekh as the official distributor. The other part of the Xiaomi products are not intended for international markets”, – said yesterday LIGA.net marketing Director GK Hello Eugene Rasuev.

As it turned out, Hello, too, is developing single-brand retail and Xiaomi has already opened in Ukraine 5 stores. “And there is a case where in the same Mall (the Town in Kiev) has two shops Xiaomi. One of them is ours and the other NIS,” says Rasuev. As told Retailers.ua the CEO Hello Maxim Ruskin, in partnership with Xiaomi, he plans to open in Ukraine 30-40 single-brand stores. With Alexander Shirkov yesterday could not be reached. The email he has not responded yet. But at the end of last year, the businessman gave an interview ITC.ua in which he said that “at the moment in Ukraine there are only two partner Xiaomi is a group of companies Hello and we, NIS… We communicate directly with management in various departments for the implementation of better quality services for Ukrainian users and fans. Top managers of Xiaomi, such as Vice-presidents-Hsien Wang and Hugo Barra, appreciate our efforts”, – told in interview to the edition Shirkov.
