A group of girls from the orphanage and the nun looking after them is located in cut off from civilization building in the country. The owners of the house – a married couple from twelve years ago who lost in the accident of the child. But a quiet house keeps within its walls terrible secret, and soon one of the girls begins to see strange and frightening things, inseparably associated with one of the dolls made their shelter a man.
The sequel of the spin-off (the wording, not less scary name!) excellent horror film “the Conjuring,” took David F. Sandberg isresponsible for the dramatic short film “No light” and its at times less successful full-length version of “there goes the light…” (here purely IMHO your humble servant, of course). The last film, however, grabbed an impressive chunk of the box office, and turned its Creator into a candidate for the title of one of the most prominent horrormeister of modernity. It is not surprising that he was entrusted to do the second part “the Curse Annabelle” – because the first series is also very well paid off, and the audience in General was satisfied (although critics of the picture of John Leonetti something not pleased).
And if the first part more than clearly referred to the cult of”rosemary’s Baby” Roman Polanski, the second returns to the roots conceived by James van kynoselen “Curse”. Yes, this is a new kinosalona – “the Curse of Annabelle 2” contains some very nice references as to the history of the couple. and another upcoming spin-offs, “the Nun”. And here creeps in a single reproach- however, not so much the film as the Director. The fact that Sandberg is not a gram of individuality. “The origin of evil” – a movie from first to the last frame of “banowski” (and due to the strong dramatic lines of the little “planesinuse”). Then you and the mandatory entry showing the house and meeting with potential “Scarecrow”. The operator leads the viewer by the hand, paying attention on the creepy Scarecrow, then fastened to the stairs chair-lift, which will not go until you fasten the belt – in a word, explains, saying “remember, this one will be crappy”. Then you and playfully jumping on the walls and ceiling demon performed by Joseph Bishara, complaining directly from the “Astral plane”. And, in the end, then you and a painfully familiar narrative structure that the films in the franchise “Curse” remains inviolable. The result is a typical film by James WAN, but where’s the contribution Sandberg? It is not clear.
But “typical” does not mean “through.” The film succeeded and surpassed expectations on all fronts – he has an interesting and unpredictable plot, a live and well played characters, great camera work, great sound. And Yes, most importantly – “the Curse of Annabelle 2” scares, and how. Mostly, of course, good old screamers, but sometimes more subtle moves, again peeped from the van – when we a few seconds see how the heroine looks at the dark corner of the room, my knees begin to shake themselves.
The main focus of the picture makes the characters of the two young Actresses, prayer shawls Bateman and Lulu Wilson. And girls holding up perfectly in the frame, surely playing their role – however, before shooting each of them already showed the world your talent (Bateman in the film adaptation of the teen fiction “the 5th wave”, Wilson – in the role possessed by evil spirits child of “Ouija: the Curse of the Board of the devil”). Accompanying them stresie actors are equally good, so no doubt or Negotiant scenes does not arise. The quality of the recording is also executed at the highest level. The operator knows exactly how and at what point you need to tweak the brightness to even the most ordinary daily scene to turn into a nightmarish ride, and this figure is quite high professionalism.
To sum up on a positive note. “The curse of Annabelle: the Birth of evil” is a powerful and scary horror movie, one of the strongest genre of work in 2017. The creators do not have to reinvent the wheel and used the time-tested moves, polished them to a Shine, and the result is impressive and memorable. It is advisable to watch on the biggest screen and don’t forget to take a validol – Annabelle is no joke.
