Manager WhatsApp there is a vulnerability that allows attackers to obtain user information. Software developer Rob Heaton, who discovered the problem, talked about it on his website.
The vulnerability is due to the fact that WhatsApp is able to see when a user from your contacts was last online. This option is enabled by default, can be disabled, but the status of online user can not hide. Heaton wrote a special extension for the Chrome browser and showed that the collected when using information about the appearance of the contact in a network can be used in order to determine the daily routine of the object of surveillance.
In addition, Heaton showed that making the daily activity schedules of the two users of messenger, can with high probability determine whether they communicate among themselves and, if so, at what time. According to him, attackers can use this method to shadowing, and extracted information of interest to insurance companies and credit agencies.
