Experienced Brazilian racer Felipe Massa announced final retirement from Formula 1.
Massa had planned to retire last season, but the plans changed world champion Nico Rosberg, who suddenly went from racing that led to the transition of the pilot “Williams” Valtteri Bottas in a Mercedes. Bosses of the British team asked Massa to stay for another season – the Brazilian after some hesitation accepted the offer.
“As you know, last year I announced that he will retire from Formula 1, but at the request of the “Williams” I made a decision to spend in Formula 1 for another season. But this time it will really be my last race – the last race in Brazil and the last race in Abu Dhabi.
I want to thank all my family and friends, sponsors for the support, hope you will support me next year in other races and Championships,” wrote Massa on his page on “Twitter”.
Weight is in the top 10 in the history of Formula 1 to the number of points (1160) and finishes in the end zone (race 163). On account of the Brazilian 270 races (11 wins, 41 podiums, 16 pole positions and 15 fastest laps).
In the history of Formula 1 Felipe Massa signed in as the 39-second champion. That’s how much time the Brazilian enjoyed the title, while Lewis Hamilton in the penultimate turn of the final race in Brazil not spared Timo Glock and not snatched from the hands of the masses of the championship.
