Researchers have discovered several dozen planets with the material parameters.
Scientists mission “Kepler” found about 20 potential “twin” of Earth – like dimensions and physical properties of our planet. Earlier this year the scientific team “Kepler” has created an algorithm that can remove noise and access exoplanets located at a respectful distance from the star, and used it to open from ten potential “cousins of Earth” in one of the last sets of images with “Kepler”.
Using these same methods of removing noise, the researchers analyzed the entire data archive and made a new catalogue of so-called KOI-objects already discovered exoplanets and candidates for this role. Due to this, the number of potential planets, a year which lasts more than 30 days, increased on the average in 2-3 times, and the number of planets with “earth” the duration of the year increased by several orders of magnitude.
It got a little more than eight thousand objects, about half of which is a potential planets. Two hundred of these planets were found during re-checking of data, and two dozen of them are potential counterparts of the Earth.
One of them, KOI-7923.01, is by far the most promising candidate for the role of full-fledged “double” of the Earth is among those planets that were found with the help of “Kepler” for the duration of his work. Its radius is approximately equal to the earth, it orbits a star slightly smaller and hotter than the Sun, and a year on it lasts for about 400 days.
As scholars have noted, it is on the outskirts of the “zone of life” and the climate it most likely is something between Earth and Mars. If on its surface there is water and all the necessary elements, nothing prevents, in principle, for the emergence and existence of life on this “cousin” of the Earth.
Earlier it was reported that scientists have discovered exoplanets contrary to theoretical models the orbit. Revolving around a rather small star, it is deflected from the plane of rotation of the star at 76%. The planet has a mass close to the mass of Jupiter, but located at a much closer distance to the star.
