The special representative of the US state Department in Ukraine Kurt Volker made for the supply of weapons to Ukraine and said that the matter is under active consideration in Washington.
“Defensive weapons that would enable Ukraine to defend itself, and, for example, to knock out tanks, it would stop Russia,” said Walker in an interview with Bi-bi-si.
He said that, in his opinion, this step will not be a provocation.
“I do not presume to predict the fate of the resolution [on arms], it is a matter for further discussion and decision, but I think the arguments that this will provoke Russia or give Ukraine the courage just erroneous,” he added.
According to Volcker, to achieve peace in Eastern Ukraine can be “a new strategic dialogue with Russia.”
