Ukrainian world champion in the second Featherweight champion of the WBO Vasyl Lomachenko in new York will hold a major fight in his career.
Four Olympic gold medals, about 800 victories in the Amateur ring in a few lesions, two current world Champions… the Fight between Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux – a truly unique phenomenon in professional Boxing. And what a shame that this match amid the circus of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has received negligible attention from the international media.
The first rumors about the fight between Lomachenko and Rigondeaux appeared two years ago, but only now is the Cuban, pressed against the wall of stagnation in his career, agreed to acknowledge the opponent and climb two weight classes.
In 2015 experts dared to boldly call favourite the battle of two Olympians. Now enough arguments to call the confrontation between Lomachenko and Rigondeaux “miss-match”. Anthropometry, age, last battles, the psychological factor – it’s not in favor of Rigondeaux.
Amazingly, for the past two years rival Lomachenko has been on the ring for only three rounds. Basil also, in his characteristic spectacular-mocking style to declassify Nicholas Walters, Jason Sosa and Miguel Marriaga.
Of course, Lomachenko will not be easy to carve open the opposition defence, which is not inferior to him in terms of understanding of Boxing. Basil should be gradually upped the tempo and wait for Rigondeaux in the later rounds starts to lose its speed and maneuverability.
