US scientists predict global flooding

Tragedy will occur because of sea level rise.

American researchers have estimated that owing to the rise in sea level will be under water city to the East and South-West of the USA.

The list of cities that are at risk of flooding, included new York, Boston, San Francisco and Miami.

All in all, according to researchers from 165 to 180 settlements in the United States will be flooded over the next 20 years. The end of the century this figure will reach 490 towns and cities. The main cause of sea level rise in the 21st century scientists call human activity.

“This study highlights what is really important to people. The sea level rise means a sharp increase in coastal flooding. In fact, most coastal flooding today due to sea-level rise, which has caused human activity,” says one of the study’s authors, Dr. Benjamin Strauss.

Strauss claims that every rise in average global temperature 0.55°C, sea level will rise by 1.3 meters. It is highly likely that by the end of the 21st century, the global sea level will rise 5 meters.

“The number of people who will live in the area regular flooding will increase much faster than the sea level,” – said Benjamin Strauss.
