All personnel at Naval Support Activity Bethesda (NSAB) were advised to shelter in place, the official Twitter account of the base reported. The public was asked to stay away from the area. Only emergency traffic is allowed to go in or out.
The phone tip on Wednesday morning claimed NSAB’s Building 10 was the subject of a bomb threat. No details were immediately offered about the possible shooter.
NSAB is best known for providing operational support for the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
