The solar system was named after beer. More precisely, there was a funny play on words.
Trappist-1 is a planetary system located in 12 parsecs from the Solar system (39 light years) and it’s monastic beer, known for over 300 years. It was discovered with the help of the Belgian robotic telescope. Its full scientific name Small telescope to observe the transit planets and planetesimals (in English it sounds: TRAnsiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope South, and TRAPPIST). Taking the acronym of the first letters of the name of telescope TRAnsiting and PlanetesImals Small Telescope — it got its name.
But beer lovers noticed the coincidence. Trappist or Trappist beer is known for many centuries in the monastic beer. This unique drink is still brewed in 11 monasteries and abbeys. The rule for them is not to make the beer, and cook it for yourself.
And if beer is about 300 years old, the Solar system was discovered only recently in the constellation of Aquarius. Interestingly, 3 of the 7 planets in this system may be suitable for life, have the right conditions.
