Ukrzaliznytsia is considering the possibility of upgrading in 2018 infrastructure on the main passenger areas to increase the train speed up to 180-200 km/h.
This was announced by first Deputy Minister of infrastructure Evgeny Kravtsov.
“It is envisaged that in 2018 on the most popular routes will be undertaken a comprehensive exercise to upgrade the infrastructure to increase train speed up to 180-200 km/h. Of course, it will be closely linked with the financial condition of the company and with issues of indexation of tariffs”, – he said.
In addition, he said that for 2017 the main objectives of Railways is the upgrade of passenger and freight rolling stock, in particular the supply of freight wagons, locomotives as well as the purchase, repair and modernisation of passenger cars.
