The national team of Ukraine on fencing modestly made the championship of Europe in Tbilisi (Georgia).
The only prize, Ukraine received in men’s team fencing tournament on the sword. Anatoly Gerey, Maxim Brushwood, Bogdan Nikishin Vladimir Stankevich on the way to the finals dealt with Finland (45:24), Hungary (45:39) and the Czech Republic (18:14), but in the battle for gold in a dramatic struggle gave the team of Russia (32:33).
The main star of the Ukrainian fencing Olga Harlan for the first time since 2005 remained without medals of the continental level. In the individual event Olympic champion of 2008 lost in the 1/8 finals, and in team competition along with Olga Zhovnir, Julia Bakastova and Elena Procedeu took fifth place.
Among the other results of the Ukrainian team is to provide a fifth fencer Andrew Berry and seventh position of spagetti Helena Krivickas.
In the medal standings of the European championship in Ukraine took a modest seventh place (0-1-0). Best team of the tournament was Italy (4-3-4), ahead of Russia (3-6-1) and France (3-0-3).
