The sorting of garbage Ukraine is not ready yet.
Ukraine is not ready for separate garbage collection, and citizens need to be prepared for the increase in tariffs for removal of household waste. This was stated by Minister of ecology and natural resources of Ostap, Semerak.
According to him, in Ukraine at the moment, lack of basic items for insertion sorting of municipal solid waste.
“At least, because there is no container for this sort. For example, only Odessa they need about 50 thousand,” – said Semerak, stressing that a new model of solid waste will provide for increased fees for garbage disposal.
“The population would not want a significant increase in fees, but it is inevitable”, – said the Minister.
Commenting on the possibility of introducing a model of separate collection of MSW in 2018, he noted that the Parliament registered a bill which provides for the possibility of postponing for one year the period of prohibition of waste disposal in Ukraine.
“We do not support such a transfer,” – said Semerak.
He also noted that in Parliament there are approximately 30 laws governing the treatment of different types of waste (not just MSW).
“First we have to take the National waste management strategy, and only then make the laws that fill it”, – concluded the Minister. He added that the document was agreed and will be soon submitted to the government
