Ukrainians urged not to respond to the “free” tickets.
Fraudsters have invented a new way vymanivaya money. Now the criminals have become travelers who actively follow all the promotions and sales, trying to grab Soi lucky ticket. About a new type of fraud reported by Ruslan Yusufov, Director of private client Group-IB company, which is engaged in the investigation of cybercrime, wrote on his page in Facebook.
“In the last few days I see a lot of reposts of the page “#Emirates gives you 2 tickets” (also report fraud on behalf of #Aeroflot). This, of course, wiring. But I see a repost of these pages is not from my grandmother (my grandmother chose a radical method of protection against cybercriminals, and does not use the computer), and from people in banks, investment and charitable funds and even family offices (i.e. people who have access to money and sensitive information) will tell you more than it threatens,” – said in the message.
Specialist detail, how to recognize scams:
1. First, you get a link through WhatsApp or click on repost to Facebook and get on the site of the “Emirates-free-2-tickets-com-Abracadabra-dot-com” that should be alerted. Those with whom we communicate a little more, already have acquired paranoid subconscious barrier and don’t follow such links.
2. When you click on such link you will be taken through several websites pads. In the process you look is likely to be an attempt to infect your device with a Trojan or other malware. In parallel, you will answer questions like “do You want to get 2 free tickets from Emirates?” and “Confirm your age(Aya)”.
3. At some moment to get the tickets you will need to make a list for 10 your contacts to repost on the page in Facebook. In some cases, you will be prompted to authorize your account to take this issue on yourself and not hinder you. In any case, you will be involved in a fraudulent scheme of your friends. In addition, it is likely that after login your account in Facebook, your information will be sold to advertising agencies, but that’s the least of incipient problems.
4. Once your computer is infected, your account is authorized, you looked, I invited friends and made a repost, you will see the message “sorry, you didn’t win. Better luck next time”.
But thanks to your naivety the people behind this scheme have hit the jackpot:
if you use online banking through that device, it will steal money;
if it’s a computer in the corporate network through your computer your company will steal your money
your computer will be connected to the botnet for automated DDoS attacks or spam;
your computer will be used for mining bitcoins, to store prohibited materials (for example, not entirely legal pornography), for concealment of traces of crimes (such as proxy); not necessarily that it will engage the same people access to your computer can be sold on the black market for $ 1-2;
the device will be scanned for compliance to certain criteria (for example, 1S files, databases, etc.), and sooner or later you steal information;
if your phone, in addition to the above, you will steal the correspondence, messengers, as well as all the photos and notes;
