Ukrainians celebrate Independence Day

In Kiev, timed to coincide with the national holiday military parade.

Today Ukraine marks the 26th anniversary of the adoption by the Supreme Soviet of the USSR act of independence of Ukraine that is considered to be the date of establishment of the Ukrainian state in its present form.

Planned celebrations across the country. In particular, in Kiev, on Kreshchatik street and independence square will be timed to the celebration of a military parade.

This year on independence Day, Ukraine will have four days off in a row from 24 to 27 August. In this case, the order of Cabinet of Ministers “On transfer of working days in 2017,” the business day is Friday August 25 – Saturday August 19.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the resolution “On the day of independence of Ukraine” of 20 February 1992. Document decided to consider August 24 independence Day of Ukraine and the annual observance of it as a public national holiday.
