Boxer from the Dnieper Andrey Rudenko in Moscow failed to stop the former world champion under version WBA Alexander Povetkin.
The fight for the vacant titles WBO and WBA Intercontinental could be completed in the first round. After a tough exchange Rudenko received a neck injury – a Ukrainian for a few minutes steadfastly refused to continue the fight, but the referee in the ring together with the angle managed to convince Andrew to resume the fight.
Rudenko took a few rounds to adjust to the style of Povetkin. However, the Russians acted more actively and quietly picked up round after round.
Although in the middle of battle Rudenko was able to significantly improve the accuracy and quality of their punches, the battle took place according to the scenario Povetkin. Former world champion confidently approached the first win after disqualification for use of illicit drugs.
At the end of the fight Povetkin desperately trying to become the first boxer who managed to send Rudenko at least down, but Andrew showed great resilience and held out until the final bell.
Judges outside the ring naturally gave Alexander Povetkin by unanimous victory with a crushing score (120:109, 120:108, 120:108). Andrey Rudenko suffered a third defeat on the professional ring and missed a chance to break into the elite of the heavyweight division.
