Ukrainian neurosurgeons have performed the most complicated operation on the brain

This is the first such operation in Ukraine.

Ukrainian neurosurgeons have mastered a complex operation to treat epilepsy. Two first and only in Ukraine of brain surgery carried out in the Metropolitan Institute of neurosurgery named after Romodanov.

TSN says about 13-year-old Denis, who just transferred from the ICU, and he is very weak. The bouts of illness the guy has started every two years. Four he fell into a coma and when the doctors did not give any chance after three months of sleep woke up and began again to learn to walk and talk.

Dennis went to public school, but epileptic seizures up to eight times a day is back again. Without surgery to do it was impossible. The operation lasted 6 hours and for the Ukrainian neurosurgeons this was the first experience. For the big event they were preparing for four years, interned in Canada and France. On the head, Denis has removed part of the bone and under the microscope and removed the diseased part of the brain and separated the hemispheres from each other, so affected did not generate epileptic discharges on others.

Usually surgery is very effective in treating the disease and only improve intellectual abilities. So Denis believes will soon be able to return to school.
