From 19 to 30 August in Taipei (China) on 29-th summer Universiade will feature more than 12 thousand athletes from 160 countries.
Ukrainian students in China will perform in 14 of the 22 sports (basketball, weightlifting, volleyball, gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, athletics, swimming, diving, jumping, archery, Taekwondo, fencing, soccer and Wushu).
The only Olympic champion in the national team of Ukraine at the world University games is gymnast Oleg Vernaeve. Also the winner
The Olympics became his teammate Igor Radivilov.
Prize-winners of world and European Championships became swimmer Andrey Govorov, Michael Romanchuk, divers Alexander horshkovozov, Oleg Kolodiy, Maxim Dolgov, Vic Caesar, archers Georgy Ivanitsky, Lydia Sachenkova, thequantity Irina Romadanova, representatives of fencing Anatoly Gerey, Ksenia Panteleeva, Anfisa Pochkalova, weightlifter Irina Deha, female athletes Irina Gerashchenko, Olga Bibik and others.

Two years ago from South Korea Ukrainian students brought 31 medals (8 gold, 27 – silver, 6 – bronze) and eighth place in the medal standings.
