Ukraine has agreed with US about the purchase of two million tons of coal from Pennsylvania at competitive prices.
Ukraine reached preliminary agreements on the purchase of 2 million tons of American coal.
This was stated by President Petro Poroshenko in an interview to TV channels “Ukraina”, ICTV and “inter”.
“In August will take place the visit of the Minister [of energy Rick] Perry. We have a lot to talk about. And about the participation of American companies in the privatization of energy companies. The second position – you know that after the capture of Ukrainian enterprises in the occupied territory, we refused to buy coal from the occupied territories. And to ensure transparency of the energy market, we have agreed that the American coal of Pennsylvania for a competitive price… we will have a guaranteed supply at least 2 million tons of coal. For this purpose all conditions are created now should be the contract”, – said Poroshenko.
We will remind that now Ukraine buys coal in Russia, South Africa and Poland.
Imported coal has become necessary for Ukraine due to Russian aggression in the Donbas, which resulted in the anthracite mines came under the control of insurgents.
