Ukraine will change the size of disability pensions

The Cabinet wants to renegotiate pensions to pensioners, not only in terms of age and disability.

A priority for the government is the revision of pension to pensioners on disability. This was stated by Minister of social policy Andrei Reva.

“Today we plan as a priority to revise the pensions to pensioners, not only in terms of age and disability. Because one thing is to pay for care, another thing is the pension to a man who has lost the ability to work”, — he said.

The Minister also noted that the need to change the system of payments for care for the disabled.

“When we’re talking about payments for care, we must understand that there are a lot of questions. Why is this popular among the people? The one who gets attendance allowance, for him, the state pays ERU and he is insured for. Very often we encounter situations when the person prepares the care for the disabled, this really has been someone else, the man himself go to work, for example, abroad, here he is insured for, and there he is working on. So there is a lot of questions. It’s not the amount, but the fact that you need to change the system of such assistance. The priority at this stage, I believe, is to increase the level of pension provision, including disabled people, and we will continue to reform all the other aspects of social assistance, including this one” — he added.

Earlier, the Rada introduced a one-time payment and annual assistance for the disabled Chernobyl. In addition, introduced the annual assistance for rehabilitation.

As previously reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established that the maximum amount of surcharges to pensions for former employees of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant who retired, will amount to UAH 949.
