International intellectual property Alliance once again has included Ukraine to 2017 Priority Watch List – countries, where most intellectual property rights are violated in the world.
This was reported in the official report of the Alliance.
As stated in the Alliance report piracy problems in Ukraine are causing serious economic damage to the United States.
Among the Priority Watch List of International intellectual property Alliance this year except for Ukraine indicated in 7 countries: China, Chile, India, Mexico, Russia, Taiwan and Vietnam.
According to media lawyers and managing partner of Jurimex Yuri Kraynyak one of the main reasons was the lack of effective legislation to combat copyright infringement on the Internet, that Ukraine is a traditional problem for all time of existence of this, that is to say, the rating of countries.
“In particular, the report indicated that the quality mechanisms able to move the issue from the place, was envisaged in the draft Law on state support of cinematography, but this project was vetoed by the President and prepares for re-consideration by the Verkhovna Rada. At the conclusion of the IIPA, in the end, Ukraine must adopt such a law,” he said in a commentary.
According to Kraynyak, the same report recommended the US government to abolish the system of preferences that apply to Ukrainian goods crossing the us border.
“In past years, the Obama administration has not given these recommendations for political reasons. But now we have another administration that is not too predictable, and not the fact that Ukraine will pass this time. If not, and preferences would be abolished, our losses will reach tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars”, – said the lawyer.
