Honey export from Ukraine in January-June 2017 increased compared to the first half of 2016 by almost half – from 15.2 to 29.6 thousand tons. This is an absolute record of Ukraine in all the years of exports of honey.
This was reported by the consultant of the Food and agriculture organization of the UN (FAO), Anna Burke.
“Half year results for the recent market of Ukraine: exports of honey – an absolute record of 29.6 thousand tons, or $51.8 million Top 3 buyers of: US $18.9 million, Germany – $10 million Poland – $5,6 million,” she said.
According to FAO, over the same period last year Ukraine exported 15.2 thousand tons worth $ 30 million, and in the first half of 2015, exports of this product stood at 13.4 thousand tons in the amount of 32.8 million dollars.
“The US continues to lead among the countries – buyers of Ukrainian honey, and this trend will continue. To meet rising consumer demand, the U.S. only provides 30% of own-account production and over 70% are due to imported supply,” – said the expert.
It should be noted that the export of Ukrainian honey for the entire 2016 56.9 thousand tons, and in 2015-to 36 thousand tons.
