Thus, according to the expert, for the first six months of the current season Ukraine exported 29,6 thousand tons of honey. This indicator almost twice exceeds last year’s volume of honey and is the largest in the history of Ukraine’s independence.
The largest volume of products was exported in March-April 2017, when exports amounted to 7 and 6.1 thousand tons, respectively, and thereby exceeded the previous year by 3.5 times.
Among the buyers of Ukrainian honey on the foreign market continue to lead US. Their share in the total Ukrainian export amounted to almost 37%. According to Anna Burke, this trend will continue in the future, as in the US market now are high interest and demand for honey among the population.
However, the growing demand, the US market only 30% is provided by the products of American manufacturing, and the share of 70% is provided by imports, in accordance opens a good opportunity for Ukraine.
In second place in the rating of countries-buyers of Ukrainian honey is Germany, with a share of 19.9%, and the third Poland – index of 10.8%.
It should be noted that the largest volume of honey Ukraine traditionally exports in the second half of the season, according to official statistics, in the period July through December 2016, the foreign markets were sold almost 42 thousand tons of honey, or 75% of the annual volume.
