The validity of macro-financial assistance program ends.
The head of delegation of European Union to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli said that Ukraine will lose the third tranche of macro-financial assistance of 600 million euros, if not reverse the ban on the export of roundwood.
He said this in an interview with “Today”.
E”if Ukraine will not remove the ban on the export of round wood, EUR 600 million is the third tranche of macro-financial assistance – will be lost. The decision will be made before the end of this year, which means you need to get the money in early 2018,” he said.
He stressed that Ukraine has not fulfilled several conditions necessary for receiving the money. “There are still six or seven conditions in the sphere of fight against corruption, social benefits for immigrants, in the areas of trade, energy that was not made by Ukraine. And if you will remain – you will not get the money,” said Mingarelli.
We will remind, the European Commission on behalf of the EU in July 2015 will provide Ukraine a loan of 600 million euros – the first tranche under the new program of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, total budget of which amounts to 1.8 billion euros. In the following months, provides for the allocation by the European Commission 1.2 billion euros, provided a successful implementation of economic and structural reforms agreed between the EU and Ukraine. 600 million euros Ukraine expected to receive the end of 2015, another 600 in early 2016. This did not happen.
The second tranche of the EU macro-financial assistance went to Ukraine only in April 2017. After the transfer of funds the total amount of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine from Brussels in 2014 amounted to 2.81 billion euros. This is the largest amount ever received from a European Union country, not entering it.
This macro-financial assistance is provided to Ukraine for 2.5 years, until January 4, 2018.
