Ukraine proposes to leave out the peacekeeping contingent in Donbass

According to American, it will increase the chances to persuade Putin on the emergence of such a mission.

The United Nations peacekeeping forces, which can enter the Donbass, should be without Russian representatives. However, Ukraine may not be sending its contingent.

The proposal was made by former Deputy Secretary General of NATO Alexander Vershbow.

Former adviser to NATO on defense Evelyn Farkas noted that under all conditions there is not to prevent Russia

“If we introduce a peacekeeping force, we must remember that Russia is a party to the conflict. This means that it cannot participate in the peacekeeping operation,” said Evelyn Farkas.

The special representative of the state Department’s Kurt Volker continues to believe in the possibility of a diplomatic solution to the situation. However, claims that the withdrawal by Russia of its observers from SCCC is an attempt to disrupt the Minsk agreement.
