Ukraine is the first among the European countries in the ranking of terrorist threat in 2017.
These data lead the authors of the report, The Global Terrorism Index 2017, writes Alexander Korenkov from the Center for the study of insurgent movements.
Our country occupies the 17th place among 163 countries of the world. We have overtaken on this indicator France (23rd place), Russia (33rd) and the United Kingdom (35th). This result is connected with the fighting in the Donbass.
The expert notes that since 2014 international analysts project the Global Terrorism Index believe the fighting “LNR/DNR” as terrorist acts.
“Because of this, the Ukraine, where from 1991 to 2013. there were only 55 attacks (12 dead, 110 wounded), in 2014, is the 51st in the world (898 terrorist attacks, from 665 to 1366 dead), and in 2016-m barely made it to the top ten “leaders” of the rating.
The largest number of attacks and related casualties are suffered by the “DNR” (234 attacks and 777 fatalities, for the period from 2014 to 2016.). Although experts now see a significant decrease in the number of attacks and victims in the Ukraine, it does not allow her to leave the group of countries with a high level of terrorist threat,” writes the author.
