Ukraine has simplified the detention and arrest of judges

Changes adopted by the Supreme Council of justice.

Consent to detention judge, his detention or arrest would be considered by the Council no later than five days from the date of its receipt. This change was made to the regulations of the High Council of justice of Ukraine (SPU).

The idea of giving consent to detention or arrest, against a judge who is apprehended during or immediately after committing a serious or especially serious crime, is considered without delay after the receipt of the submission within the terms stipulated by the Criminal procedural code of Ukraine.

According to the head of the High Council of justice Igor Benedick, the General Prosecutor’s office, Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office will be reviewed immediately and, if necessary, on weekends or holidays.

In addition, changes in the rules of the Council allow the court, for its part, to consider this question within the period stipulated in the criminal procedure code, i.e. within 72 hours of the detention of the person.
