Only 2% of Ukrainian scientists believe that their level of scientific activity is funded adequately.
This is evidenced by the data of poll of the sociological group “Rating”, made public at a press conference.
At the same time, according to the survey, 55% believe that it is funded in part, 35% said their activities are generally not funded.
Almost one in four (28%) rassmatrivajut the opportunity to leave the work of the scientist in favor of other activities. The main reason respondents referred to the unsatisfactory level of remuneration (87%).
41% indicate disappointment in the development of Ukrainian science, 57% believe a lack of sufficient funding of scientific research, 19% would prefer to be realized in a different field.
26% of respondents are considering moving abroad to undertake research activities. Among those who think about such “scientific emigration” of scientists from Lviv, the smallest – from Odessa.
It is reported that the study was conducted by the sociological group “Rating” from 4 to 30 September 2017 by order of the public Union “Ukrainian Forum partnership” among employees of scientific institutions of the Dnipro, Kiev, Lviv, Odessa and Kharkiv. The study involved 1 thousand respondents from 35 academic institutions.
