Ukraine and Kazakhstan to extract uranium

Joint extraction of uranium will be undertaken to create fuel for nuclear power plants.

Kiev and Astana could start joint development of uranium deposits in Ukraine in the framework of expanding cooperation in the sphere of fuel supplies for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. On Thursday, June 15, said at EXPO 2017, Kazakhstan Vice-Minister of energy Bakhytzhan Dzhaksaliyev.

According to him, we are talking about studies on the issue of uranium mining on the basis of the Ukrainian deposits of Sandstone type.

“Created by a collaborative group, signed by the appropriate program on the development of these deposits,” – said Dzhaksaliyev.

In addition, he added that to meet the needs of Ukrainian NPPs in fuel, the issue of organization of joint venture for the production of fuel assemblies in Kazakhstan.
