“Cherkassk Mavpy” and “BEEPS” in the next season will not be able to represent Ukraine at the European Cup arena.
Because of the great rush to participate in the Cup of Europe FIBA Europe presented to potential participants additional criteria. “Cherkassk Mavpy” and “BIPA”, representing Odessa, do not meet these criteria.
“More than 100 clubs expressed a desire to play in the Champions League, FIBA and FIBA Europe Cup in the season 2017/18. This is a good sign of growing interest in club basketball in Europe, and at the same time exceeds our expectations.
FIBA Europe has adopted additional admission criteria for clubs to tournaments. Such as the capacity of the home arena and the position of the team in the championship.
Because of this, we have frustrating to see that the two clubs do not meet the criterion of the capacity of the home arena in a minimum of 2,000 places and do not fall under the exceptions to these criteria on a season-2017/18″, – the basketball Federation of Ukraine published a letter came from the office of FIBA Europe.
Thus, instead of the five of clubs next season in European competition, Ukraine will be represented by only three teams. The champion of the country “Budivelnik” will play in the Champions League, and the “Chemist” and “Dnepr” will perform in the Cup of Europe FIBA.
