US President, Donald trump declared that cancels his predecessor’s policies of Barack Obama to normalize relations with Cuba.
“I’m canceling completely one-sided deal the previous administration with Cuba. This is a terrible deal sow violence and instability in the region, and they (the Obama administration – ed.) did not get anything in return,” said trump.
According to him, the US is ready to start negotiations on a new agreement. The US President added that the American Embassy in Cuba remains open.
Trump said that the United States opposes calls for UN to lift the embargo against Cuba. He assured that Washington will not lift sanctions against Havana until it frees political prisoners and not legalizes political parties, and does not hold free elections under international supervision.
The President demanded that the Cuban authorities to give the citizens of the United States, whose homeland is accused of terrorism, murder and other crimes, and hiding on the island from American justice.
The White house also decided to limit tourist travel of Americans to Cuba.
Recall, the US government imposed a trade embargo against Cuba in 1960 after winning the island of the revolution. As conditions for their removal Washington calls the democratization of the regime and the termination of military cooperation Havana with some countries.
