Toyota will no longer equip in Europe, the new cars with diesel engines. Instead, the Japanese focus on hybrid technology. About this in his interview said the Executive Vice President of Toyota Didier Leroy.
On the Continent, recently began selling a new Toyota Avensis and the Auris, the package which includes the BMW diesel engines. But this, apparently, latest new model Toyota with diesel engines available to Europeans.
“We will no longer offer in Europe, new cars with diesel engines. This is my personal opinion. Please note the updated Yaris, which recently appeared on the European market. In Europe you can’t buy it with a diesel engine, as it was before. Now, this model accounts for 25% of all our sales in European countries,” said Didier Leroy.
More recently, Toyota is actively promoting in Europe, cars with hybrid power-plants. The new strategy of the Japanese became apparent after the market appeared a compact hybrid crossover Toyota C-HR did not receive a diesel option.
“European distributors, said Roy, was opposed to the C-HR had a diesel variant. They told me that the European market needs a diesel engine, but I did not agree with them. We need to follow a new strategy with a focus on environmentally friendly cars.”
Thus, the new model of Toyota in Europe now will not be equipped with diesel units. But this does not mean that the models of the current generation, they will not.
