Japanese company Toyota has introduced a new development – a car with a modern auto-pilot system and two rudders.
The original has two types of autopilot – a “driver” or “assistant”.
In the first case, the machine can travel on their own (the fourth and fifth level of autonomy according to the classification of SAE), the second – Autonomous functions only help the driver and adjust the movement of the machine if necessary. For example, the system can detect when the driver fell asleep and take it over to avoid a collision.
In the test machine, Toyota can simultaneously be two drivers: one plays the role of a tester, the second – the employee of Toyota, who will take control of the car in case of an error in the autopilot system.
In addition, the analysis driving the second driver allows to improve machine learning algorithms and to develop efficient ways to transfer control from a standalone system to the driver.
