The Australian office of the company Toyota together with the manufacturer of toy trucks Tonka has developed extreme pickup on the base model Hilux. The car was built to celebrate three events: record sales Hilux to the Australian market in 2016, the 70th anniversary of the Tonka brand and the 80th anniversary of the Japanese automaker.
In the work on the project Tonka HiLux was attended by about 150 designers and engineers working in the headquarters of Toyota in Melbourne. The car is painted in black and yellow, characteristic of toy cars Tonka, and built on the top-end modification c SR5 double cab.
The engineers of Toyota installed on the car new off-road suspension and increased track, increased ground clearance 150 mm (up to 429 millimeters), replaced the front bumper, added a carbon bonnet and carbon fiber tailgate, led chandelier, snorkel and 17-inch wheels with a 35mm off-road tires.
In addition, the pickup there is an additional six-millimeter skid plate, tubular sills, as well as a special removable mount in the Luggage compartment for spare tires, fuel canisters, toolboxes, fire extinguisher, axe and Jack.
After all the modifications the truck up more than 300 pounds and weighs 2.4 tons. The engine remained the same as that of the production car — the 2.8-liter diesel “four”.
To launch a series of such a car “Toyota” is not a plan.
