There are more than 200 countries, and we are sure you heard about each of them at least once. But on our planet there are States of which we never knew.

They occupy a very small territory, and some of them inhabited by a few families.

Palau. Population: 21 291.

The Republic of Palau is an island country that consists of over 300 Islands of different sizes. Palau — one of the most amazing places on Earth: his rainforest full of unique plants and birds, and in its territorial waters are home to 130 animal species under threat of extinction. But the most remarkable in the country is the lake in which lived 2 million jellyfish.

Niue. Population: 1 612.

Niue is a tiny island country in Oceania. Despite the truly amazing nature tourism there is not popular. Therefore, the country depends heavily on foreign aid, especially from New Zealand. The capital is a small village with a population of less than 600 people. But the island has its own airport and a real supermarket — the only one.

Saint Kitts and Nevis. Population: 55 572.

The state consists of two Islands: Saint Kitts and Nevis. One of the main sources of income is the program of economic citizenship, which allows anyone with at least 250,000 US dollars to invest in local sugar industry and thus gain the status of citizen of Saint Kitts. Another way of obtaining citizenship is the acquisition of property worth at least 400,000 U.S. dollars by either of the two Islands.

The Principality Of Hutt River. Population: 30.

The Principality of Hutt river is a country located in the province of the same name in Australia. It was founded by Leonard castle, who declared his farm a new and independent state. Although the country is not recognised by any government, it still has its own currency, stamps and passports. In different parts of the Principality, visitors can see the busts of His Royal Highness Prince Leonard I of Hutt.

Nauru. Population: 10 084.

Nauru is the smallest independent Republic and the smallest island nation on the planet. Nauru has no official capital, no public transportation systems and 40 km of roads are used by local residents, administering their private vehicles. Environmental concerns make the Republic very unpopular among tourists. Another record Nauru is the number of people with obesity: the obesity rate in the country is over 70%.

The Principality Of Seborga. Population: 312.

This is a virtual state in Italy is managed by His Brilliance Marcello I. the Principality of Seborga is a village of the same name near the French border. In the unrecognized state has an army consisting of 3 persons: the Minister of defense and two guards.

Molossia. Population: 7.

The self-proclaimed Republic of Molossia is a virtual state, founded by Kevin bogam located in Nevada, USA. Its population consists of Mr. Bogue, of his family, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 1 rabbit. Of Molossia has its own national anthem, national emblem and national flag. They even have the death penalty for heinous crimes. Republic issues its own passports and even has a space program. In may 2017 the Republic was 40 years old.

The order of Malta. Population: 113500.

In addition to Vatican city, Rome, there is another tiny state, which is called the Sovereign military order of Malta. Its area is of 0.012 sq. km. It occupies three buildings, two of which are located in Rome, and the third on the island of Malta. The country has its own currency, stamps, site, car number plates and passports. Its citizens have the right to visa-free travel to several countries around the world. Sovereign military order of Malta is the only country in the world where Latin is the official language.

The Principality Of Siland. Population: 27.

Unrecognized state Siland is a offshore platform, located 9 km from the coast of the UK. Siland is controlled by the self-proclaimed Prince Regent, and anyone can become a count, Baron or even a Duke: at the state site, you can purchase a noble title for a few hundred British pounds.
