Montenegro officially became a member of NATO

Reportedly, the ceremony of raising the flag of the country in Brussels is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, along with U.S. Undersecretary of state for political Affairs Thomas Shannon, June 5, will take part in the handover ceremony at the U.S. state Department in the presence of Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic accession of this Balkan Republic.

The President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic, together with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will hold a press conference.

The publication notes that the annual military budget of Montenegro makes about $60 million and is the lowest among the countries-members of NATO. “This amount will not change the situation for the Alliance, however, could have serious consequences for the country”, – stated in the message. In particular we are talking about the influence of the Russian Federation.

As you know, against the country’s accession to NATO, and Russia, which is the largest investor in Montenegro. Moscow has blocked imports of Montenegrin wines on the territory of the Russian Federation, was denied entry to the political leaders of the country and detained officials who are supporters of NATO policy.
