The daily consumption of yogurt or sour cabbage can reduce blood pressure and risk of stroke or heart attack.
Experts in the field of healthy nutrition emphasize that this effect persists even if you follow a diet high in salt.
Regular consumption of yogurt with beneficial bacteria can help to reduce blood pressure. For the first time scientifically proven that a diet high in salt destroy the beneficial bacteria in the gut. Without these bacteria, our body begins to produce cells that increase the level of inflammation that leads to narrowing of the blood vessels. This contributes to increased blood pressure, and, consequently, increased risk of strokes and heart attacks.
However, the beneficial bacteria that are destroyed in the intestine salty foods; can be replaced by microorganisms contained in yogurt with probiotics. Experiments involving mice and humans showed that, even if not the most healthy diet yogurt reduce the amount of inflammation-inducing cells, which leads to a decrease in blood pressure. Still, experts warn that in order to confirm the ability of probiotics to reduce the pressure necessary to conduct additional research.
Probiotics commonly found in yogurt and other products subjected to fermentation, like the popular sauerkraut. The authors of this study from the United States and Germany emphasize that the findings are not a solution for people to consume as much salty food as they like, if they both lean on yogurt. However, this information may lead to the creation of therapies to restore the microbiome of the intestine and reduce pressure in people with hypertension.
