The study of the relationship of asthma and food products shows that consumption of vegetables, fruits, dairy products and fish reduces risk of asthma in children.

This idea was tested by examining the diet of 598 German children aged 8 to 13 years within the International study of Allergy and asthma (ISAAC-2).

As a criterion for evaluation of the diet used questionnaires for parents, and the degree of asthma was assessed using tests of topical sensitization, Hyper-reactivity of the bronchial tree and specially designed questionnaires.

After collecting information, it was processed using statistical criteria and factors which took into account material status of the family, education and standard of living.

The results showed that among the children consumed less whole-grain products asthma was common at 19.4%, and among those children who consumed these foods more all – in was 4.2%.

Eating citrus fruits, vegetables and dairy products did not show such strong differences in the number of cases of bronchial asthma.
