At the NSC “Olympic” in Kiev was held annual all-Ukrainian ceremony “Heroes of sports year”.
The best athlete of Ukraine in the 2016 was the gymnast Oleg Vernaeve – a native of Donetsk at the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, won the gold medal in the uneven bars and won the silver medal in the all-around. Also on the bill Vernaeve gold and silver of the European championship.
In the same category of women was titled fencer Olga Harlan. In 2016, the year pride of Nikolaev won two medals at the Olympics (silver in the team competition and bronze in the individual competition) and also brought the country two bronze medals of the European championship.
In the nomination “team of the year” sports Oscar of Ukraine received the women’s national team on fencing on swords as a part of Olga Harlan, Elena Kravatsky, Alina Konashuk and Elena Voronina.
In the nomination “Together with Olympians” was not equal chess player Anna Muzychuk, who managed in the course of 2016 to win the world Olympics and become world champion in rapid chess and blitz.
Olimpiykoy hope of Ukraine recognized athlete Christina Dmitrenko, became champion of the second winter Youth Olympic games in Lillehammer.
In the category “Strong-willed” the winner was a five-time winner of Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro swimmer Maxim Kripak.
In the nomination “people’s choice” best athletes of Ukraine became the Olympic champion in rowing Yuri Cheban and gymnast Anna Rizatdinova.
